Just bought this unit last week, Sept 2010. It has a great painted surface which has the quality of a powder coat. The air-hydraulic works smooth and steady. The release to lower the unit is smooth and predictable. I haven't even tried the manual version yet! I built-up side ramps with 2x10 lumber up to 8 inches tall and drive my ATV ride up the sides of it.

Bought for the workshop and is excellent value for the dollar. Even better if you buy it on sale!! Use it on several bikes and 1 trike we own...makes repair a little less back breaking!!

Use this hoist daily for everything from log splitter service to lawn mower maintenance. Works great. No more kneeling or sitting on the floor to do service on equipment. Never had a motorcycle on it yet. This is good all round service hoist for almost anything

I bought this unit 2 days ago (July 10/2013) & I am super impressed! So far I have serviced a ride-on mower, a push gas mower, & my 2012 Yamaha FJR1300. The bike is heavy (650 pounds) & the hoist lifted it easily & is very stable to work on. When I was finished, the bike lowered very smoothly.

Get it on sale you will love it. The only down side is the tire holder, but very easy to modified using SKU: 8240145.

Purchased this lift when it was on sale. New from other reviews that the wheel vise wasn't the best. Tried my bike in it, didn't like how it was held by the small wheel vise Found a shop quality wheel vise on E-bay, for $105, bolted it on and presto!!! Amazing lift In the first month, I had an assortment of bikes in it, all worked well.

Can't go wrong with this unit especially on sale at $499. It lifts my Kawasaki ZX14 and Suzuki Gladius easily. I'd rate it 5 stars if the clamp was a better design but it's replaceable and not hard to find.

Excellent value, poor tire holder, but given the price, well worth the cost. Use mine almost daily for everything from working on motorcycle to fixing my air compressor. Great to be off the floor working at a good accessible height. Thanks PA for having this value in your stores.

HOIST WORKS GOOD BUT THE TIRE VISE NEEDS TO HAVE A PIECE ON AN ANGLE TO HOLD THE FRONT WHEEL BETTER. THE HOIST IS CRATED WHICH IS GOOD. NO DAMAGE TO THE HOIST AND THE PAINT IS GOOD ALSO ON THE WHOLE UNIT EVERYTHING WORKS RIGHT OUT OF THE CRATE.

Hello, this is the information that we found for you: OPERATION 1. Position the lift in a suitable area, checking that the surface on which the lift will stand is solid and flat. 2. Turn the adjusting screw (18) down to raise the castors off the ground to prevent the lift from moving. 3. Wheel the motorcycle up the leading plate and onto the platform. NOTE: There is a choice of mounting holes for the vice to cater to various sizes of motorcycle. 4. Clamp the front wheel in the vice to prevent any movement of the motorcycle. 5. Strap the motorcycle securely to the platform. 6. Connect the air inlet fitting into the air supply hose lock fitting, then turn on the air valve to raise the unit. When an air source is not available, pump the lift foot pedal (11) to raise the lift. 7. When the platform has been raised to the working height, turn off the air valve (or stop pumping) and pass the locking bar (22) through the holes in the front lifting arm (38) so that the lift cannot be inadvertently lowered
