I am an electrical contractor and I have used this gen set for 2 years now. For the first 8 months I used it 4 hours a day 5 days per week through the fall and winter. When I got it home I started it and ran it for half an hour then changed the oil. I found some debris from manufacture. It is well worth doing this with any Chinese motor stuff. After this I did a once a month oil change when in use. The frequency can be a little quick, after the run-in period, so I tweaked the throttle down to put it back to 60hz. The only time I had any difficulty with it was when I left it outside for a few months. I had to put a little oil into the piston via the spark plug to free it up - doubt any motor should be left outside in spring. Still runs fine and barely burns any oil. It is a real cheap but cheerful unit - look after it (OIL CHANGES!) and it will do the job. Also when not in use start it once a month just to keep it in good shape for when you need it.

I live in a rural area that is susceptible to power outages in the winter and wanted something that would power the heating system for the house and shop if there was a lengthy outage. My major concern with any "offshore" generator was whether or not the voltage would be stable. After getting this home and starting it up, I put my voltmeter on it and ran it while I started and stopped several high-load tools (Chop saw, grinder, mitre saw, drill press) and watched the voltmeter for fluctuation. There was none. I own a smaller 1000W "offshore" genny and it is horrible for this. I have confidence in using this to power my heating systems and my electronics in the event of an extended outage. I will be looking for a transfer switch for my home shortly so I can run it more conveniently. I highly recommend, particulary as I got it on sale for $399.00! The only downfall is that it is QUITE heavy..around 200 lbs, but it's not like I am hauling this thing around in an RV or boat....
