Princess Auto dedicated the cover of the February 2007 catalogue to give national exposure and support to The Canadian Museum for Human Rights project.

Princess Auto Team Members also participated in a national fundraising campaign to go along with the catalogue launch.  There were four campaigns held over a four month period in which $88,000 was raised for the Museum by selling limited edition merchandise.

Q&A with Kim Jasper; Director of Communications: Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights - July 2008

Q    You must have been supported by other private organizations in making this museum a reality. Was working with Princess Auto unique in any way?

A    What we found unique about Princess Auto was the way the Team Members embraced the project and made it a personal, wildly creative mission.  You could feel the pride swell from coast to coast as different Team Members in different locations offered their own unique approach to raising funds - from barbecues to raffles to special edition products.  They fully embraced the fact that the Canadian Museum for Human Rights is a national Museum for all Canadians and took the initiative upon themselves to make things happen.  Princess Auto is more than a company - it's a family; a family that cares about moving humanity forward.

Q    What, if anything, do you feel Princess Auto added to your campaign?

A    Princess Auto invigorated the Friends' campaign team by developing creative approaches, assuming the bulk of the workload and by overwhelming us with their creativity and passion for the project.  This amazing ability to go above and beyond was like wind in our sails and reinforced the importance of staying the course and making this museum a reality.

Q    What is the status of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights Today?

A Today, we have made history.  The Museum is the first national museum created in 41 years; the first national museum to be located outside the Ottawa area; the first national museum conceived by the private sector and developed as a partnership; and the first national museum with a vision for a national school program.  With the funds in place from all levels of government, Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights is closing in on the $105 million private sector campaign with only a few million dollars left to raise.  A Board of Trustees will soon be appointed and, once The Board is in place to make all decisions, construction could begin as early as autumn 2008 with a potential opening date as early as 2012. Princess Auto played an integral role in securing these monumental achievements for Manitoba and for all of Canada.
